Of course, this came up in that mystic time between being fully awake and deep asleep. This is the time where the dream-world gives up its secrets for you if you know how to ask.
You’ve been missing an ingredient in your magic. It’s also why your wishes and dreams don’t always come true. But this missing ingredient is built in to all of us. But we don’t practice it, and have been trained to not even try.
Faith.
Did you notice your reaction to that word?
That’s why you won’t practice and improve your skill in this. But your lack of faith has kept your wishes in the dream world.
How long did it take you to learn how to write? Years. How long did it take you to learn to operate a computer effectively? At least months, if not years.
You only get good at any skill with lots and lots of practice. Malcolm Gladwell in “Outliers” said to become a professional at anything, and to make a good living at it, it will take about 10,000 hours of practiced learning. Right or wrong, the stars who have gotten really good at anything have done a lot of it and constantly worked to improve it.
Any bestselling author right now has a stack of books that didn’t particularly sell until they wrote enough to figure out what their audiences wanted and how to produce it for them. Same with film makers. And even then, they could still produce an occasional flop. But they stick with it and look like they can churn out these things effortlessly.
There is another reason that you don’t have everything you’ve ever really wanted and wished for: you don’t know the natural system that lays underneath it and keeps our world running.
Gladwell missed this one. Because he thought everyone needed to attend universities and work in cities at high-paying jobs. The news is that any organization or corporate edifice that humankind has ever produced is “fake news.” It’s not natural.
Where farmers are going back to finding out how Nature raises things, they are able to make a living from producing food quite profitably. The more they try to use shortcuts like chemicals and genetically-modified plants and animals, the more they are adding overhead and costs to what they are doing, and so can go broke faster. Meanwhile, Nature is taking those herbicides and making their weeds resistant to them so they no longer work. So the farmer has to buy more powerful and different chemicals, which is an endless expense.
Universities are designed to get you a job in a corporation so you can pay off your student loan. And since you are in debt, you have to keep getting jobs all the time. At the end of 40 years of working, you may have something to show for it, but in most cases, not.
You need some Magic in your world.
Under all these hours of training, the big stars who make the big bucks have found that missing ingredient. Their training helped them build faith in themselves.
These guys learned by doing. Standing at half-court and throwing ball after ball into the net proves to you that you can make that shot from that spot. You’re certain you can do make that shot. You have faith in yourself. Now move a few feet over and throw a few hundred balls into that net. And now you know for a fact you can do that from that spot as well. Eventually, you know and have faith in your own ability to sink a basket from almost anywhere on the court. (And yes, those people who have sunk a ball from the other end of the court have practiced that one, too.)
You don’t have faith if you don’t practice enough to generate it.
This was covered in Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” Chapter 3. There he covered that if you took an idea and added in a continuing positive affirmation, then that energetic action would develop faith. Get the idea, affirm that it’s already accomplished, it happens. But he also said you had to do that regularly.
What about the rest of that “natural system” which underlies this magic?
Claude M. Bristol in his Magic of Believing uses a whole book to describe ways to develop the second element – Belief. To make an idea or thought into a belief, you have to add faith to it.
Earl Nightingale in his “Strangest Secret” quoted the psychologist William James as saying:
“We need only in cold blood act as if the thing in question were real, and it will become infallibly real by growing into such a connection with our life that it will become real. It will become so knit with habit and emotion that our interests in it will be those which characterize belief.”
And,
“If you only care enough for a result, you will almost certainly attain it. If you wish to be rich, you will be rich. If you wish to be learned, you will be learned. If you wish to be good, you will be good – only you must, then, really wish these things, and wish them exclusively, and not wish at the same time a hundred other incompatible things just as strongly.”
The two other parts of this natural system are Vision – where you form the idea of what you want into a “Burning Desire” as Hill calls it, and Inspired Action – where you act on the inspiration you receive in order to achieve, acquire, or attain whatever it is that you’ve decided you really wanted.
Vision, Belief, Faith, Action.
- Get an idea of what you want.
- Develop an unwavering conviction that you always get what ever it is that you want.
- Work up the belief that whatever you want is already achieved.
- Then listen, observe, tune into the events around you where you get a hint of what you should be doing.
Together, these are where magic happens. Things you want will show up, or you’ll get the idea of what you have to do to earn them. The more you keep your idea in mind and believe that it’s already yours with all your heart, the faster it will appear.
When you work on any one of these points, the other four are strengthened as well. This is what makes it a system. And when you negate any of these, the other become weakened as well.
Our society, in all our training, has created a perfect storm where we can only get what other people tell us we want, you have to do what others want you to do so you can earn that want, and you don’t trust yourself to do it on your own, because you don’t really believe there’s anything else you can do.
Unfortunately, our society is built on fake news. Our schools and academia are built on this basis. Our factories and corporations push this constantly to our workers. And our news media make sure we are filled up with this silliness at least three times a day.
Earl Nightingale’s “Strangest Secret” recording is as popular now as ever. So is Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” and other books mentioned on that recording.
Why?
Because these all give us the chance to think for ourselves, to create the world around us the way we want it, to be and have everything we’ve ever dreamed of.
But you won’t find these truths in our schools, in our corporate media, in our governments, or in their paid scientists.
“We become what we think about.” And that truth goes through all our literature straight back through Shakespeare and our oldest religions and philosophic texts. Over and over and over. Right back to before recorded history where it was preserved in their ancient language itself that can be found still surviving in remote Polynesian islands.
You’ve been carefully taught to not see, not think, and not act. And you’ve been told that faith is fiction, as it can’t be scientifically proved.
Yet conviction is what has built every culture through out history, and also brought them down. Faith has brought every civilization to their heights, and enabled their enemies to bring them to their knees and their monuments back to rubble.
Our current crop of terrorists show us exactly how this works. Their faith enabled their advance and others’ faith enabled their defeat. Consistently and always.
The reason evil loses is that it’s self-destructive. People who are critical and work to destroy things also work to destroy those around them. They also get sick more easily, as they are working to destroy their own health as well.
People who are constructive tend to build and create and prosper. The degree they do is all to do with their vision, beliefs, faith, and action.
You’ll also see that the greatest good will produce the greatest effect.
Humanity would be the fifth element to this system. Abraham Maslow capped off his research with the idea that the greatest motivation any person could have would be to become self-transcendent and work entirely for others.
As a test of what he had studied, Dr. J.B. Jones built a national and international business out of the idea of working for humanity. And his business grew from being thousands in debt and working out of his living room right up into an 8-figure income with thousands of associates nationwide and globally in just four years. He chronicles this in his bestselling “If You Can Count to Four…”
Earl Nightingale took his faith in himself and belief in the goodness of humankind to create an industry based on selling the recorded inspirational works.
Jim Rohn re-created himself with this same model and left a legacy of positive influence to millions.
W. Clement Stone took his own faith and beliefs to generate over 35 million dollars from the hundred bucks he started with. And pushed the ideas of Positive Mental Attitude to everyone he met. Then lived to be a hundred.
The people who have created the greatest effects have had the greatest belief, faith, vision, and humanity. They acted from inspiration.
And created “magically” all the good you see around you.
You can, too.
There is much more to be done to make this world a better place for everyone.
When would Now be a good time to start?
